Leading Middle East travel trade publication seeks News Editor

Connecting Travel, the leading B2B travel trade publication in the GCC region, is looking for an experienced news journalist to join its team in Dubai. 

Position: News Editor
Location: Dubai
Type: Full-time (Monday-Friday, flexible working programme, minimum two days in office, subject to change)

About Connecting Travel: Connecting Travel is a leading travel trade publisher, offering delivering news, thought leadership and curated events to travel professionals working in or with companies and markets in the Middle East. We are committed to delivering high-quality content that informs, educates and inspires our readers, who include destination management companies, travel agents, tour operators, hoteliers, airline operators and other key travel industry stakeholders.

The role: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced News Editor to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the travel industry, a keen eye for a story, and the ability to produce compelling and accurate copy. This role requires a strong understanding of the Middle East inbound and outbound travel trade landscape, excellent journalistic skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • News Gathering: Identify and monitor industry trends, attend events, and maintain relationships with industry contacts to source and develop stories
  • Editorial Oversight: Ensure all content meets our high standards for accuracy, style and quality
  • Content Creation: Write and edit news articles and features for digital platforms
  • Digital Engagement: Oversee the timely publication of news on social media channels and engage with our online community

Minimum requirements:

  • Experience: Five years' experience in journalism, preferably within the travel trade or similar B2B arena
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field
  • Skills:
    • Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio of published work and a proven track record of breaking compelling news stories 
    • Comprehensive understanding of the principles of grammar 
    • Proficiency with digital publishing tools and content management systems
    • Familiarity with SEO best practices and social media management
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight daily deadlines
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to network within the industry
