Saudi airline Flynas to upgrade 60 aircraft with smart seats

New configuration offers best pitch and width of all Middle East lost-cost carriers

Saudi low-cost-carrier Flynas is upgrading its seats to offer extra comfort and cater to tech-minded travellers.

Flynas operates the Airbus A320neo, which can deliver flights up to within 6 hours, so passenger comfort is a key reason behind the new deal which will see its next 60 aircraft fitted with the Safran Z200 seat designed for long-medium flights.

Those aircraft will each have 174 new seats, with economy class featuring an electronic device holder, power supply from both USB A and USB C, a coat hook and cup holder.

The four rows of Premium class seats will have a wider pitch, an adjustable headrest and a middle seat blocker for more privacy.

The Flynas A320neo has a 3-3 seat configuration and the airline says its seats offer the best pitch and width of all low-cost-carriers in the Middle East.

Flynas is ranked the best low-cost-carrier in the Middle East and the 4th best worldwide by Skytrax, and has an ambition to become number one globally.

The new seats, part of that goal, were unveiled at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, where Bander Almohanna, CEO of Flynas, said the airline was “poised to reimagine our future cabins with smart design, stylish features and next-level technologies”.

The Flynas fleet currently consists of 62 aircraft, flying 139 routes to more than 72 domestic and international destinations in 30 countries.

From June 2025, the airline will connect Riyadh and Jeddah with more cities across Europe and north Africa including Milan, Geneva, Casablanca, Rize and Krakow.

During the Farnborough Airshow 2024 in London, Flynas signed a purchase order of 160 new Airbus aircraft, doubling its orders volume to 280 Airbus aircraft within seven years, and adding widebody aircraft for the first time.

In April, Flynas took delivery of its third new A320neo aircraft in 2025, which arrived at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
